  • More luxury hotels in Moscow

    Accor Hotels announced the opening of its first Fairmont property in Russia in 2019. It will open in Central Moscow on ulitsa Tverskaya and will have 142 rooms and 50 apartments in a new building. Also in November, Hilton confirmed that they will manage a new 5* property next to the Red Square in Moscow. The project is likely to be a Waldorf Astoria. Earlier this year, Hyatt Regency opened a property near the Dynamo stadium in preparation for the World Cup.

  • With Moscow hosting FIFA World Cup in Summer 2018, 60% of the city hotels are already booked for this period. According to the Moscow Mayor’s office, the biggest demand is currently for low-price hotels, mini-hotels and hostels, with high numbers of bookings from the USA and China, even though neither country will play in the upcoming championship.

  • In Minsk, the capital of Belarus, 5 new hotels are planned to be opened by the II European Games in June 2019.

  •  The Hotel market in Kiev is also recovering, according to CBRE Ukraine research. In the first 6 months of 2015 the average occupancy rate was 50% which is a sign of recovery after the past few years of crisis. By 2018 the number of hotels in Kiev should increase by 12%, mainly in the midscale segment.

  •  In Georgia, a new Radisson Blu hotel will open in 2019 in a popular mountain ski resort of Gudauri.
