June has been an exciting month for the start of the recovery of the Russian outbound travel market, starting with the official termination of the strict shut down of Moscow on June 8th, followed by positive information that flights to 15 countries (including 7 EU countries) starting in mid-July and most other flights starting in August.

Although the number of new cases of coronavirus is still quite high, the strict lock down in Moscow seems to have had a positive effect and the country has certainly past the peak of the out-break. According to the travel industry interviewed, many premium segment clients have cancelled their planned domestic holidays, now that it looks more hopeful that Russians will be able to travel abroad from August, or earlier for certain destinations.
